[It's not unusual for Hanna to spend late nights awake, and so Maya doesn't feel bad slinking around to see if he's still up after she's finished arts and crafts with Merlin. So, like a weirdo, but a weirdo who respects space enough to make their presence known before barging in, Maya walks right up to his door, presses close to it, raps her fingers against it and calls in a sing-song tone—]
Haaannaaaaa~♪♫ Tell me I'm not waking you uuuup or something~♪♫
[The tapping does rouse him from one of his many horse naps, sitting up abruptly and calling-- well, croaking --out:]
Hello--oh, fuck--!!
[The book that had been draped over his face falls into his lap, startling him into spiking the whole thing to the ground. He can hear the melodic voice from the other side of the door, but his half-asleep brain is not processing the words right now, and this equine jumpiness surely isn't helping him pay much attention. He clears his throat and tosses his legs over the edge of the bed, wobbling over to the door to pull it open and make sure he wasn't just hearing things-- ]
Is, uh. Is the Fog doin' something weird again or--
[Clearing his throat and so casually leaning against the doorjamb to look cool despite the tousled kelp and dark circles under his eyes. He's totally been awake this whole time yep.]
[It may come as a surprise, but Hanna does know that it's been roughly about a year, and he maybe has already put something in the works for her as a gift for the occasion, but.... he doesn't want to put her on the spot by being the only one with a gift ready sooo... let's test these waters.
He steps back and makes a sweeping gesture into the room, inviting her in. Boy it's hard not to stare--]
Ooh, man. We should do something cool for the Friendaversary! Whaddaya think?
[Don't generalize the demon. She's Your Friend Maya. Yes, you know better than to accept a gift from a demon. Gifts from demons are rarely gifts. But this is Maya.
.....But this is Maya.
Which means... even if she's trying to get you to sell your soul, it's not like she'd do anything terrible with it, right? There's worse demons to sell your soul to--]
[Her hands sweep forward, closing something around his wrist— one of the three bracelets she'd made just a little earlier with Merlin. A herringbone pattern with oblong pearls woven every inch or so, with a tail to tie and adjust it, crafted under the watchful eye of someone who thinks very highly of Adrian, Hanna, and, well, himself— truly like a ritual, like magic, though a bit childish magic.
It's fine. It wasn't a part of Maya's childhood, so it gets to be a part of her now.
She busily sets to knotting the bracelet in a way that the knot will slide should he need to take it off, considering the... sticky situations a kelpie could get in.]
I figured, why let Adrian be the only one who gets to do a whole fun friendship contract, huh?
[Well he Was going to say something sweet and sentimental, but all that comes out is a rather undignified yelp as he scrambles to grab her arms and stop her from tickling him.]
H-hey! Whoa-- [Ack! Yipe! Eep!] Th-that's not fair!!
