[When he envisions himself, it's a little cartoony. Like he's drawing himself in his brain. Her description of him makes him want to laugh, but he's trying to stay on task and take this seriously!
Her hands really are so warm, and the ambiance of her voice with the sound of the ocean is all quite calming... He could get used to this.]
[She can see his lips twitch— that's not a problem. She's not trying to keep it too serious, anyway. People have often talked about how hard it is to meditate, and this is sort of a crash course, so she isn't expecting much.
Just his concentration and focus. That should be enough, right?
She continues leading him down his own body, talking him through his arms, his stomach, his waist, his hips—]
Down to your two, average, every-day kelpie legs. One foot down to the hoof on the left, one on the right.
Imagine yourself... as exactly what you want to be right now. Standing on your own two.. horsey feet.
[Maya clears her throat and straightens up too, fighting off her giggles to start him over from the beginning.]
Now, from the top of your ears to that red kelpie hair..
[She details each part of him, admiring how the bare glimpse of morning starts to catch in the more translucent parts of his kelp, making him look like a vinyl figure.]
Down to your shoulders, and your collarbones... Your upper arms, your elbows, and now your hands...
[She moves her fingers in his, rubbing her thumbs over each joint to help guide his awareness. She's so tempted to tease and tickle him and ruin it all, but— she's supposed to be helping! Clearly she can make him smile like that again later.]
[He follows along in his mind, nodding a bit as if to affirm that he is, in fact, listening. He has to try not to think about his horse shoulders and instead consider his hips as they were before they got glued to this horse torso (or horso if you will.) It's only been a week since he was a kelpie last, so why the hell is it so hard to remember how his body worked??!]
[As if she can sense his hesitation, Maya takes her hands out of his and places them on Hanna's... 'hips'. She closes her own eyes to better imagine without being distracted by his horso, and places her palms flat on his haunches.]
Your hips. They're just like you remember. Attached to just two... horse's leg's. Just two of 'em. Right down to two, big, powerful hooves.
[He knows exactly what sassy reference she's making and he can't help but bob his head like a chicken about it... which unfortunately is not helping him really focus.
He's trying!! He promises!! It's just!! She's being silly and he has to be silly along with her! Them's the rules!]
I don't need no back legs and they can gee tee eff outta here. [But they aren't going anywhere just yet...]
[Whether it helps or not, Maya can't resist a laugh. It's so soft and clear and close... though it would probably be a lot closer if he could just get back in his own body!]
That's right. You tell 'em.
[She rubs her thumbs against his fingers, an attempt at comfort as much as it is an attempt to ground him.]
One hoof, two hooves... hoofs?? Hooves? Whatever. You only need two of 'em.

[And why does it worry him just a little? He knows she's a demon and demons love mischief... was she thinking of doing something terrible to him?]
no subject
[She seems just as eager about offering this as she was about hypnosis, though.]
I bet if we just clear your mind, you can find your inner being!
no subject
Oh-- well, I mean. I'll try anything once. Eheh. So, uh. Whichever is easier for you!
no subject
So let's try meditation, shall we?
[She gives his hands a squeeze.]
Close your eyes and take a nice, deep breath.

[He's holding her hands though... it's gonna be so hard to focus... But he's still gonna give it a try.
He exhales and shakes out the nerves, then shuts his eyes and takes the deep breath as instructed.]

I want you to breathe in when the sea comes in... and out when it gooooes out.
[She breathes, too, just loud enough to guide him, and does it for quite a few paces.]
Now... I want you to picture yourself in your head. Right here, where you stand.
Think about the tippy tops of your horsey ears... The bright red kelp on your head... All those little freckles on your nose, right down to your lips.
[Outside of his view, she's busy admiring everything she lists off, hoping to help give him a guided trip down awareness of his own body.]
To your chin... to your shoulders....

[He snorts and squeezes her hands, opening one eye to gauge her reaction.

[she scolds, though it certainly doesn't sound so scolding past her smile.]
And don't turn yourself into more horses!

[He laughs, squeezing his eyes shut again.]
Okay, okay, okay-- start over. I'm sorry. I won't mess up this time.
