[When the events aren't that bad, Maya's still got a job to do and a bar to run, and as she is every weekend, she's in attendance at the bar right now. In any case, she's gotten off pretty easy, she'd say; she's been both a pooka and a demon before, and she's fairly certain she can manage it much better than the poor folks who've ended up a bit more like a horrifying quilt. She can't help but feel a little bad for Phoenix, for instance, who certainly did not end up a part of the fluffy-butt brigade with herself, Hanna, and Merlin.
...Speaking of Hanna, it certainly is something that two people who live, work, and play together would both end up rabbits. She's noticed the way he stares at her like he's hypnotized, and as amusing as it is, Maya also can't deny she wants to pay attention to him, too. Hasn't she always realized that they get along so well, that it's so easy to talk to him? That they always seem to be on the same page? That he's comfortable in a way she misses so dearly since a certain someone else went away...?
While the thought might normally make her feel guilty, as a demon and a rabbit, Maya really can't find it in herself to feel too bad about wanting to sate her own desire for connection and attention. Especially not when someone she likes so much seems so... willing.
Even though they're both dutifully at work, Maya notices that once again, Hanna is... staring. Unnoticed by others in the hubbub, while Maya sits with her legs crossed on a barstool, bouncing her little rabbit foot— she can see Hanna a little ways away, looking at her.
It's cute. He's cute. What a dweeb. She bets she can get a rise out of him from here.
Trying to make sure she's got his attention, she winks and sticks her tongue out at him, giving a little wave.]
[Honestly he thought she might not notice. Which is silly of him in hindsight, considering Maya is one of the more observant folks he's ever met-- so really he should have known better.
Since he's made this first mistake (the mistake of getting caught) he may as well just... Follow through.
He lifts two of his four fuzzy bunny-moth hands to wave back at her, one at on the top set and one on the bottom, but on opposite sides, then frowns when the mop hits the floor because he's let go of it to respond. Shit.
Is it the faerie brain or the bunny brain making him feel stupid today? And which one of them is responsible for this weird magnetism he seems to have towards her? Like, yeah, sure, he's always thought she was cute... But as a demon pooka, she makes his damn heart race so fast he's been afraid it was gonna pop since they left for work this morning.
It's gotta be the bunny shit. It has to be.]
Ha, whoops!
[Now he's gotta figure out how to pick the stupid thing up again. Y'know, he used to wish for an extra set of hands so he could get more done, but he never thought about how hard it would be to get used to them!]
[Well, at least it's cute. Maya covers her mouth to giggle but only just barely— and in an instant she's no longer at the bar but instead at Hanna's side.
She bends over to pick up the mop, holding it closer to her as she straightens up and asks;]
[He's still bent when she appears, but is rendered nearly frozen when he hears her voice so close to him. Slowly, he tilts his head up, eyes trailing from her adorable little bunny toes aaaalll the way up to her face. (And maybe taking a little bit of a pit stop in a couple select locations along the way.)]
I-It's uh. It's the red. Y'know. The, uh. The sunburn.
[That he doesn't have anymore. There's a slight pulse behind one eye, the beginnings of a headache. He winces, then laughs, trying to cover the reaction.]
[Resting the broom handle on her shoulder and holding it with one hand, Maya uses the other hand to mime that usual thoughtful expression of hers, a curious smile remaining on her face.]
Are you sure you're feeling okay?
I can take you to the office to chill out for a while, if you need the break.
[Ah... Her hands are so warm still. And so soft. How can he resist?
He follows along obediently behind her, trying to do his best to keep his eyes up, to watch his step, and to definitely not watch her behind as she walks. Especially up the stairs.
He's a good guy! He's not supposed to objectify like this! Like yeah sure he's noticed before that she's all round and shaped and soft, but... Now, for some reason, that knowledge is driving him crazy.]
[She pulls him along and to the office door, though not before parking that mop behind the stairs, only letting go of his fingers once she's ushered Hanna in. Expecting him to make himself comfortable she busies herself closing the door. But rather than taking a seat on the desk as she might usually, she parks herself on the couch, immediately pouring herself a drink from the decanter at the coffee table.]
You want one too? I knooow you do~
[She chimes, feeding her devilish desire to enable by filling a second glass for Hanna.
Here alone in the office with him, she can more easily detect his scent isolated from all the others; soft and warm and familiar and unfamiliar all at once. He smells nice, he looks nice, he is nice... And isn't it nice to have his attention?]
[He isn't expecting her to sit next to him, that's for sure. He blinks big gold and red eyes at her, surprised by her proximity, but is quick to respond, nodding his head and chuckling.]
Oh, yeah. I'm parched. Haven't even had my shift drink yet!
[She smells so very good. Definitely different, since she usually smells like a day at the beach but... It's still. Very nice.
Too nice, almost.
He turns to face her, crossing his legs in front of him and leaning back against the arm rest.]
[ah welll, if Hanna is going to lean to one end of the couch, Maya's going to have to follow. Shimmying her hips over to get closer to him, she passes him his glass, her cute little Don Bluth bunny fingertips around the rim.]
Just two pals having a drink, because all work and no play makes everyone no fun.
[Wow she... sure likes being in his zone today. ...Or maybe she's always in his zone? Is it really more than usual or is he just... noticing it more... at the moment...]
H-heh, for real?
[He carefully takes the drink in both of his top hands, the two bottom ones tapping their fingertips against his fuzzy thighs.]
If I didn't know better, I'd think I was getting some kinda special treatment or somethin'.
[He snickers, trying to play off his nervousness with a joke--]
You're not playin' favorites with your employees now are ya, Miss Fey?
His heart is still hammering... rabbits are known to have pretty fast heartbeats but this is a little out of hand. He wonders if she can hear it with her bunny ears. Or...maybe he's just paranoid.]
H-heh. S-so, uh. So.. how-- how's it feel? For you. To. Like, be a bunny and stuff. It's kinda weird, right?
[She might not be able to hear his heartbeat, but she can certainly still tell he's acting... a little strangely. Normally they're able to converse pretty easily— but now, even, he's switched topics so fast. Almost like he's afraid to hear he isn't her favorite— or, maybe, scared to hear he is.
It's cute. He's cute. And stupid. And comfortable. Even if he's acting so nervous, he's comfortable.]
Not really. I was a pooka for a little while before you showed up! Like, right before, actually.
[Picking her own glass up, she downs the liquid all in one go like it's nothing— a feat she is certainly not capable of while not a demon. But when you burn so hot (hot enough to burn off some of that fuel, perhaps?) the sting of alcohol goes down as smooth as warm water.]
Well, okay, it's a little weird, being two different monsters at the same time.
[He blinks, staring wide-eyed for a moment. He hasn't actually had the chance to pet her, now that he thinks about it... but like, that would have been a weird thing to do without her permission, right?]
Yeah, right... Some people don't like to be pet. Adri, for example--
[He snickers, then downs the rest of his beverage, reaching to put it on the coffee table-- only to find his arms are much too short. So. He'll. Just hold it, he guesses.]
H-heh. You do look super soft, actually... Your fur's all shiny and plush-lookin'. You make a great pooka.
[Ah, he's always so eager to give compliments. She had a few more for him, but hey, if he's going to be so generous.
With no ceremony or preparation, Maya pushes down on the seat of the couch to shift herself closer to him once again, and as if that weren't enough, she swings her legs to lay them over Hanna's lap, crossing her arms over them as if in an offering.]
[Now, Maya isn't exactly quick on the uptake herself, but she can't say she'd really doubt someone who was sitting in her lap on this subject. She wiggles her arms in front of him, as if to reassert herself.]
You're gonna miss out on some soft fuzzy action if you don't!
[Come on, Hanna... It's just her arms! Chill out!]
H-heh, okay.
[He reaches out with the hands not currently occupied by his glass, rubbing little circles on her forearms before beginning to stroke up and down then, ooh-ing and aah-ing all the way.]
Oh, wow... Yeah. That's nice.
[He hates how the first thing he thinks is that he could sleep on this fluff forever. Just curl up in it all snug and be warm for the rest of ever. And how it would be especially good if it smelled like her, too.
Because that's a weird thing to think about your very good friend and boss-- ]
[And what very professional bestie behavior they're engagin in, all close like this, with her practically in his lap and everything. She lets him pet her arms, but is very quick to turn the tide after he's gotten to touch her;]
My turn~
[She announces before taking one of his arms in both of hers, sliding soft paws down his forearms until she can hold his hand, playing with his fingers like any inquisitive kid.]
I knew it! You're like one of those flocked toy figures...
[And before Hanna can protest, she pulls his hand to her face, so that she can rub her cheek against the back of his hand.]
July 16 or 17 probably; Night; Nai'a Nights

I... Have kinda been out of it ever since I woke up in that stupid cocoon. Freaky stuff!
[At least that much is true. Talk about getting up on the wrong side of the bed.]
no subject
[It's certainly not what she thinks is bugging him, but judging by her earnestness she believes him at least a little bit.]
Well, come on! Let's get going before someone asks you for a drink.

This is, uh, definitely different from kelpie. Kinda nice, actually. Eeeven if I super didn't miss being small. Wings totally make up for it, though.

[Her own flutter gently behind her, expressing her excitement about it.]
I guess that's to be expected of something that's both a pooka and a fairy, though.

[His little bunny foot twitches a bit at the compliment, his wings giving a flutter in return.]
S-so do you-- I mean. You look really cute. I think I already said that when you were just a demon, but like...

This is... extra cute. You look... real, uh. Real good with the ears. And stuff. [Ahem.]
